The Philosophy

The Wholisti Center’s vision is based on the concept, philosophy, and practice of holism.

The concept of holism states that we are all one, interconnected field of awareness, energy and life, expressing ourselves in our infinite differentiation.

The philosophy of holism states that each of our entire selves, in all its differentiation, must be embraced to live as truly complete human beings: in touch with our external awareness; our physical, emotional, and mental awareness; and our soul and spirit.

The practice of holism is the activity of holistic human beings living and engaging in a lifestyle, which promotes the full embodiment of our holism.

The WholistiCenter provides a place of support, care and friendly encouragement for other like-minded holistic practitioners. It also serves as a jumping-off point for others who are interested in reaching for the higher potentials of their humanity and supporting others who share a similar vision. Finally, the WholistiCenter intends to provide a model for the new community center of the 21st century; one that meets all the needs of its practitioners, a center that welcomes all colors, genders, cultures and races who share the universal ideals of holism.

The Cornerstones

Education is important as we are constantly growing and learning new things about ourselves. All of the teachings at the WholistiCenter are grounded in hard science and empirical study as they are characterized by years of observation, experiments and clinical practice. They are a blend of Classical Chinese Medicine, the Yoga Sciences, and Natural Medicine. If followed faithfully, the teachings can help practitioners reach an optimum level of wellness.

Meditative movement means to “yoke” together movement, breath and meditative attention to bring about holism. There are many forms of such movement practices such as yoga, martial arts, some forms of dance and mindful exercise. The WholistiCenter of Montrose offers an integrative, engaging practice of mindful movement. Practitioners learn to connect his yin, or earthly self, to his yang, or heavenly self. By reconciling the false sense of separation between these two polarities, holism exists and life becomes an effortless expression of balance. Implementing meditation or contemplation with this practice involves focusing the attention in order to increase awareness of the present moment, induce deep calm, reduce anxiety, promote personal development, and further a sense of oneness.

Herbs aid us in the maintenance and renewal of our systems. As we are developing holism, healthy, herbal nutrition and cleansing grants us an added advantage. Herbs help to detoxify and nourish the blood, organs, cells, hormones, and bodily fluids. In addition, herbs can rejuvenate the body’s electricity (or bio-energy) and bring mental and emotional calmness. Herbs are some of nature’s powerful tools for restoring health and vitality.

Massage leads us to an awareness of our parts by opening the flow of blood, lymphatic fluid, and bio-energy throughout our bodies. Once that flow is reestablished, the body’s soft tissues: muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments, begin to relax and lengthen, allowing awareness to expand our spiritual potential, and creating a deep sense of calm and peace.

Community is the glue that holds all of the vision together. Through community, we are: exposed to our vulnerabilities and fears, challenged to grow and evolve, find support, care, and love. Without the aid of community, it is easy for us to lose focus and slip back into old, habitual behaviors. The community also creates an atmosphere of competitive cooperation and collaboration. It presents a benchmark for success and raises the bar on all levels. Lastly, community opens the practitioner to the connection of life.
